Director

I’m interested in what happens when culture is properly brought into the spaces where decisions are made.Scotland's cultural life is vibrant and varied, and as a Director of Expressing Scotland, I can't wait to do my bit to support it. As a Cultural Practitioner with a focus on creating collaborative spaces and creative problem-solving with groups, I'm committed to creating generous, democratic spaces where people can bring their full selves and meaningful cultural work can happen.

Many of the conversations we’re having just now, about environment, culture, and how we live together are heavy and complex. My experience is that if we don’t make room for creativity, emotion and connection in those spaces, people can’t show up as whole humans, and the work suffers.

My practice brings traditional storytelling, poetry, song, tunes and rhythm-making into workshops alongside design thinking and collaborative tools. This isn’t about performance for its own sake. It’s about creating the conditions for new conversations and newly forming collaborations- spaces where people can think together, connect more deeply, and make sense of complex challenges.

Alongside this facilitation work, my creative practice sits in traditional song. I spend time with Scotland’s song traditions, draw out themes, and explore them through live performance. This creative groundingshapes how I work with groups, how I listen, how I hold space, and how ideas are allowed to emerge.

I'm looking forward to shaping how Expressing Scotland supports the myriad cultural expressions that exist across the country!
